Attendance
Good attendance and punctuality are vital for success at St Michael with St Thomas in the Three Saints Academy and establish positive life habits necessary for future success. Regular attendance also encourages your child to build friendships and develop social groups, working together as a whole team, sharing ideas and developing on life skills. Children’s social skills are also enhanced by regular attendance.
Our school displays a positive and proactive ethos that places high value on attendance and punctuality and values its partnership with parents/carers to promote good attendance.
All children of compulsory school age (5-16) should receive suitable education, either by regular attendance at school or otherwise. If a child is registered at school, parents have the legal responsibility for ensuring that their child attends regularly. They should also ensure that they are fully aware of the school’s attendance policy and adhere to it. In addition to statutory obligations parents are encouraged to sign the Home-School Agreement – a section of which describes the agreed responsibilities of the parents which include ‘a responsibility of parents to make sure their child attends regularly.’ A copy of both can be found via the links below.

The school Day
Morning registration takes place at 8:45am for both key stages, but doors will open at 8:40am. Afternoon registration takes place at 1:00pm for all pupils.
Morning registration closes at 9:30am. Pupils arriving after registration at 9:00am, but before it closes at 9:30am will be marked as late. Any pupil arriving after 9:30am will be marked as an unauthorised absence. Any pupil arriving later than 9:00am must report to the school office and must be signed in on the Iventry system by their parents giving their name, class and explanation for the lateness.
Afternoon registration closes promptly at 1:00pm for all pupils.
Procedures for reporting your child's absence
- School will need to be notified on the first day of your child's absence by 9.30a.m. giving the reason why. A message can be left on the absence line by selecting option 1.
- If no reason for child's absence has been reported to school, a text message will be sent to the parents followed by a telephone call by 9:30am.
- If school has not been notified the Family Support Worker may make a home visit.
- If a child is absent for a full week or part of a week and the absence continues into the second week, school must be notified on the Monday morning of the second week.
Attendance is monitored by the school Family Support Worker, who is able to recognise early warnings of attendance problems. The Family Support Worker will work with the attendance officer, and the families to identify areas of support needed to improve attendance and to removing any barriers.
